BAGUIO CITY—The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Cordillera, together with the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is calling for entries of local government units (LGUs) with best practices in using information and communications technology (ICT) in their operations and delivery of public services.
She underscored that by drawing attention to the best practices in integrating ICT capabilities and solutions, the different sectors of society, and local government units are enabled in their roles as catalysts of change.
“It also aims to commend and collate best practices of LGUs in integrating ICT in their processes to serve as example and benchmarks to other LGUs, to improve local business ecosystem motivating the private/business sector to actively participate and/or invest in the growth of the LGUs, and to promote transparency in local governance,” she said.
She said for the Business Empowerment (G2B) category, it awards the effect of an LGU’s practices in integrating ICT solutions, and the commitment of its administration, in the LGUs responsiveness to the needs of business enterprises, thereby creating business opportunities.
She also said that for the Government Internal Process (G2I) category, it recognizes the efforts of an LGU in developing or improving its internal systems and adhering to various recognized standards, to be able to provide better service to its internal customers.
Moreover, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic adverse effect, the LGUs intensified their efforts and took the lead in the mobilization of their communities to curb and mitigate the adverse impact of the threat of COVID-19.
Thus, the COVID-19 Pandemic Response category fetes the LGUs who were extremely adaptable to the unusual circumstances in the timely delivery of their services with the use of ICT solutions. It rewards quick thinking, innovation, and resourcefulness.
